Guest Anonymous
First, let me clarify why I ask the question. I am considering a ZX Disc brake swap. I want to run my 14" rims, so the outlaw-moder conversion with 240sx calipers will not work. I have everthing figured out except the e-brake. I am not interested in a line lock as a replacement. I have access to the ZX brakes, I just need the bracket from a Maxima or order new ones from Courtesy $100 bill. I am not sure if I can modify the Z cable, but the ZX would mount to the brake obviously. I just am not sure if it will mount up the the handle mechanism. Anyone have any info on this? Modern Motorsports Ltd
AIR, from past customer info, the cable hookup isn't too difficult but they typically do have to bend the ebrake arm for clearance and you end up with somewhat angular (ie. not smooth)cable geometry. zcarnut
The stock parking brake cable works better if you use the rear caliper from a 1982-83 200SX instead of the 280ZX one. This caliper also bolts up to the Maxima bracket (see photo). The pad area is the same as the 280ZX although the caliper piston area is less, (but it is not as small as the 240SX piston). If you still want to use the 280ZX caliper, then I would replace your stock parking brake cable with the EC-80FU universal one from Lokar Products. http://www.lokar.com/brake_con_cables.html This cable can be cut down to the desired length. The Lokar cable is very well made and is easily adapted to the Z parking brake hand pull mechanism and the ZX caliper. (Sorry, no pictures of this.)
