CruxGNZ
I may have found a front strut tube assembly (for lack of the right terms) for my '73. It's from a 260Z. Will I be able to use this front assembly on my 240Z and still be able to use the coilover kit and the same strut carts that I was going to use for my 240Z? Can anyone tell me what problems if any, will exist? I tried searching, but came up empty handed. !M!
Guest Anonymous
Early 260 Z's had 240 struts and the later had 280 size struts. I wrote this down from an earlier post: the outside diameter of the 240 strut cartridge is 2.02 inch and the 280 strut is 2.185 inch. Your threaded aluminum adjusting sleeve for the 240 can be bored out to fit the larger 280 diameter. The strut cartridges for the 240 are shorter ( I believe) and of course smaller in diameter than the 280. Corect me if I am wrong since my practical experience is confined to 280 Zs
260DET
My '77 model has the heavier strut tubes. It also had thicker top rubber mounts at the rear which were replaced with earlier 240 mounts so as to give more bump travel with a lowered suspension.
