80LS1T
I was looking through the MSA catalog tonight and I was wondering if someone could tell me what's the difference between a street roll bar and a SCCA roll bar? I am putting a LT1 in my car and its going to have about 400-450 HP. Which one would better suit my car? I am also going to have strut braces infront and in back. I do not want a full roll cage though. Thanks a lot!
johnc
SCCA has rules regarding roll bar (and cage) tubing dimensions and construction. These rules are based on decades of racing experience and are generally pretty good. You can figure the roll bar built to SCCA specs will help you in case of an accident. 80LS1T
Well is the SCCA one stronger/sturdeier(spelling?)??? Thanks!
johnc
Probably. If its more expensive its probably build from better tubing and/or has a better design.
80LS1T
Yeah I ordered the SCCA one. They told me that it had 2 more bars that go across it than the regular street roll bar. At a price of $269.95. Thanks anyway guys!
ZR8ED
Any of the Z rollbars that bolts to the front of the wheel wells, and usually back to the strut towers, I have been calling.."DEATHBARS" I'd be more concerned about getting hurt by the bar in an accident..False sense of security. If your going to race at all..and with 400+ hp that will put you in a "need a cage" class at the dragstrip...Don't skimp on safety.
