Mudge
I saw 245s on a 240Z in the front with no spacers or flares, but the car was not lowered or at least not much, it had 265s on the rear but had homemade flares due to laws in CA. Guest racerxlite
I have 17x9.5 inch rims w/ 275/40/17's on my 75 280 w/ the Ground Control coilovers on the car, no problems. The back space on the rims is 5 inches. I have a friend that has 15x10's on his w/ 5.5 inches of backspace. They fit great. You should have no problems w/ the rims you want. Guest Z-rific
I don't understand how 5" backspaced rims fit on a Z. How do they not hit the spring perch? The original Z wheels had what, 3.5" backspacing? And even then, there is only about an inch to play with. 5" backspacing puts the wheel 1.5" closer to the spring perch. It seems to me, and I could be WAY wrong, that any wheel with 4" or less backspacing should clear the spring perches front and back. And this should be first priority, as fenders can always be rolled or flared to clear larger wheels outward.
johnc
With aftermarket coil-over springs and perches you're reducing the spring and perch diameter to 2.5". That picks up enough space to increase backspace to 5" with 8 or 10" long springs and to 5.5" if you crank the perch up and run shorty springs.
