Hi all, I've been lurking here for awhile, alot of great info here, I recently bought a '78 280Z

and plan on rebuilding it and of course swap the 6 with a V8 , but phase 1 is the suspension, coilovers ,disk upgrades ect. (and fix the damn exhaust leak) armed with the JTR manual ,and this forum I plan to start this winter. Well enough of that , now for my first question .. does anyone know who's car this is? any info on it(suspension/wheels)? I really like it and want to base my project something similar to it.

scoop is just 280zx that has been molded in 240z (one with no louvers) hood. as far as wheels go good luck with it. reason why is because i bought last set in usa (at least thats what tsw guys told me). they are five lug 20 offset in the front 40 in the back and his and mine z's are running coilover suspension (stock springs would not clear in back and i am not sure about front). oh yeah i got my wheels year ago and they have been discontinued for almost two or three years. if i remember jtaylor was telling me that he is thinking about selling his wheels but i am not sure if he is serious about it or what. it wont hurt asking.

Thanks for the info, 18 inch wheels look kewl but may be a little rough riding for me, 17's with a little taller tire for ride comfort is my route. So by scouring the net I have found 17x8 TSW trophies that fit 90-96 300zx :D ( 5 lug on 4.5" )

I am going coilovers , so thats no problem there I hope (least Jerimo has 17x8's on his np) (whats the stock 300zx wheel offset?)

So it looks like a 5 lug conversion to go this route , which I had not planned on , but disk all around would look great, will have to search the forum on this , anyone have any tips for the conversion , or maybe know of some similar 5 spoke 4x4.5 wheels.

Stock offset on 300ZX is around +35mm. Stock Z32 rims bolt on to a 240Z front spindle with a Z31 hub installed and coilovers. Check out SCCA's website. Rears need a spacer built to compensate for the wheel offset. Mine is about 40mm but I don't have a rotor or brake drum in there so yours will be a little narrower. Check out Ross C's website also. A little search will get you far on this topic - there has been lots of discussion on this.

Cheers - Doug
