steveosupremeo Posted November 16, 2007 Share Posted November 16, 2007 hey guys, i'm looking at an ECM for my 280zx turbo. its an 83 model and the ECM i'm looking at has this number- A18-000-040. does anyone know what year that is for and if it will work for my car. its a manual trans. dunno if maybe you guys might have that number on one of yours. thanks! and i did search but no luck for that number. roger.svoboda Posted November 19, 2007 Share Posted November 19, 2007 well they only made the turbo zx in 81, 82 & 83 so if it is from a turbo in those years it should work. The 81 used a crank angle sensor for spark but I believe that an 81 unit would work in 82, 83.. My 83 turbo has A18-603 045 on the name tag. May be you have one from a naturally aspirated car. steveosupremeo Posted November 19, 2007 Author Share Posted November 19, 2007 well the other difference is that in 81 the injector resistors were built into the harness and in 82-83 they were built into the ECM, so that is also a big difference. HowlerMonkey Posted November 19, 2007 Share Posted November 19, 2007 His is an 81 so he will need the crank angle sensor that mounts on the A/C compressor bracket................and the dropping resistors........as well as the fuel pump controller that comes on 82-83 cars just to make it run with that ecu.
