brakes weak

I have a stock 86 N/A 300zx, We just replaced the rear calipers and it acts like there is air in the lines. We have bled the system several times and ot has gotten a little better, but does not have that crisp feel that it did before.

Is there a special procedure to bleeding the brakes?

Mechanice tells me that the rear brake adjustment is controlled by the e brake.I am dubious of this, as calipers for the most part are non adjustable.

Anyone have this problem before?

The e-brake does adjust the rear calipers. If for example the pads are too loose, they will not ratchet inward with each brake pedal use as do the fronts. The rears use a ratcheting device inside the piston area that screws the piston outward with each use of the e-brake only. And if you did not already know, the piston must be screwed back into the body of the caliper for clearance when doing the usual brake job of replacing worn pads (don't do the C-clamp thing on the rears 'cause it won't work).

I have an 85 300zx n/a and had the same problem when I replaced my rear calipers, the problem is that nissan in their infinite wisdow did not put the bleeder at the highest point, so what I had to do was remove one calliper at I time wedge a board in the calliper and hold it in a position with the bleeder at the top and bled as normal, solved the problem for me, good luck

oh, and yeah pulling the e-brake adjust them as he described it with a screw inside the piston

Thanks for the info guys. Do you think that you could just jack the back of the car up or put it on ramps to get the air bubble over the bleeder as described?
