JessZ
I've been searching for the post that describes wiring a 240z tach to a '83let engine. Can someone thow me a bone here?
Administrators BRAAP Posted November 26, 2007 Administrators Share Posted November 26, 2007 How about a femur? Sorry I don't have that post or recall it, but I'll throw in my $.02 if it helps... I’m assuming you are installing an L28ET in your 240-Z. In that case, I “think” you just wire it as it was originally wired in the 240-Z, triggered off the positive side of the coil. Some guys have gutted their 240 tachs and installed ’75-'77 280Z tach guts in their 240 housing. These 280 Tachs trigger off the negative side of the coil. Is that the info you are looking for? NZeder
see http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=122970 This is what I did to fix the problem - see the last post in the thread above.
JessZ
BRAAP it seems you are correct. I found a thread on ZCAR and and it said the same thing. The problem I'm having now is this: When I fire the car the RPM needle spikes then stops reading. If I turn the ignition key while the car is running, but not so far to again trigger the starter the RPM needle will read perfectly, but when I let go of the key and it returns to the "normal" ON position the RPM needle stops again. Any thoughts?
CamH
http://www.zcar.com/forums/read/1/328760/328922 I found that thread to be very helpful.
