David87LS
I need direction. I bought an 82ZX NA. It runs great, has good pick up. But it sounds like it has a hole somewhere in the manifold. You don't here it so much at an idle, but when my son puts a little pressure on the gas peddle I hear this throaty noise then as the idle goes higher the noise dampens. I got in there with a mirror and spot light but I can not find anything. Any suggestions? I did a search for manifold leak but came up zero. thanks Newby David
cygnusx1
Use a piece of high temp tubing about 1/2" ID and put one end to your ear and fish around with the other end. When you hit the leaky spot it will be suddenly very loud in your ear. Run along the exhaust manifold gaskets and the head gasket lines. Don't forget the exhaust gaskets as well. Welcome to HybridZ. David87LS
That is a great idea. Not ever having delt with manifold leak (IF IT IS) are they a "B" to repair?
evildky
I had a recouring leak at my #1 exhaust runner, the coolant form years of leakign had pitted the aluminum and as a result my exhaust gasket kept blowing out the bottom, I had the side of the head surfaced at a machine shop when I upgraded to arp headstuds and metal hg, no problems since
David87LS
25 years is a long time for water "coolant" to erode away a surface. My hope is for something simple but then again that would be normal and predictable and life is anything but that
