czecho
Im doing a 1uzfe build in a 1990 300zx and was just wondering what kind of tranny i should use and remember im poor and cost is a issue but i understand basic tranny costs, I going to be running 10 psi of boost eventually and need a strong tranny to hold all the power. So if you suggest a tranny can you also try to suggest where to buy them or find one. I will in SoCal if that helps at all. Thank you all for help
ezzzzzzz
Why not slap the Lexus transmission behind it? It would likely be the most cost effective choice.
Gareth
If you'd like to run a manual tranny behind it, you're going to have to either custom make or buy a tranny adapter from Australia or New Zealand. Either way, it is going to be costly. The factory A340 auto should hold just fine around the stock power level, but there are tranny upgrades available ($$$). From what I've read on this forum, the TH400 is the strongest OEM auto tranny that you can get, but you still need an adapter. Tough choice. Clifton
There are aftermarket bell housings for the Toyota W series and R series. If you plan to turbo it and make a bunch of torque the R154 is the way to go. 1fastZ just put a 1U in a 4runner with a W series. Thing moves pretty good for a big heavy lifted truck. I lost all my links but here's a few http://www.lextreme.com/ http://www.v-eight.com/ http://www.dellowauto.com.au/main.html
TRD_240Z
I would strongly recommend an R series from the MK3 turbo. A W has a greater chance of blowing out if not driven properly over 300hp, but some have proven to otherwise. Although now a days the R series is becoming much more expensive than it used to be. Just the 1jz bellhousing is $300 alone.
