2Zowner
I've owned this Z the longest due to more to sentimental reasons than anything. I purchased this car with 46,000 miles on it and have done major changes since I aquirred it in 1986...It sat in body shops for more than 4 years with the first paint job being a total disaster and a hotrod painter was given the car 2 years ago with all the paint gone...most of the parts stripped out of it and it even used to have a sunroof that the previous bodyshop discarded...I removed the roof from a donor 75 289z 2+2 that was in perfect condition and had it added to my car...the new bodyshop was in Canton, IL and Stan Miller working from a pontiac dealerships bodyshop was given artistic freedom to transform my Z into what it is today...along with the roof he fixed the front fenders to weld them to the headlight buckets giving it cleaner lines...the MSA front and rear detail are safer due to the metal bumper support behind the fiberglass(the front bumper is from the Ford Focus, it lays in as if it were meant to be there) the car was specified to be a babyblue pearl. I asked not to see the car till it was done... this is what I picked up I'm not showing the rest till lower in this post. I had to put the car back together after the 2 years of waiting for my Z back. Most of its parts from the first bodyshop were chucked by the former owner of that shop...nice, so I had to find yet another donor car to rebuild my car. Luckily I still had most of the partsand most of my car was still intact. my original door panels were a mess but fixable and the original bodyshop cracked my perfect dash. Ater years of seaching and storing of Z parts I traded a perfect 240Z dash for a perfect 280Z dash recently. the car was fitted with triples off of the original motor that has .30 flattop forged pistons, an 8 quart aluminum oil pan, 6 to 1 ceramic coated header and a NOS injected intake manifold... The car was finished on my birthday in July 2006 and I bring it to shows all over the country. Mostly driving it but for really far from chicagoland I do have a trailer. This past fall I took it to the Z Car Convention in Daytona Beach FL and it took a 1st place trophy in Nissan Modified, after all the work it truly paid off. here's what it looks like now... this winter it finally is getting the crackfree dash, autometer guages, chromemoly a-arms, lowered suspension, adjustable tension rods, billet mustache bar, performace sway bars, custom half shafts to be installed to complement the Nismo LSD that is already there, new crossed drilled vented rotors, and other details for its next level...the 17" wheels on it were my birthday present to myself for 2007...I have several other cars in my Datsun collection including a 69 Datsun 2000 roadster, a 73 240z,74 2+2, a 75 california rustfree 2+2 with a full MSA new styled bodykit and a fresh 383 stroker with demon carb dynoed at 535 hp...and a few newly aquired Z's including a 94 2+2 that is recieving a TT upgrade and a Midnight Black pearl 78 280z with 23,000 original miles.
