Guest iamjackal
Found one complete 56 out of a 94 Firebird (v-8) and it has 54,000 miles for 1000 with bellhousing and slave cylinders. Is that bellhousing gonna bolt up to the SBC motor I am building. Also I can get a bunch of bellohousings and probably 2 T56,s wortof parts. Is the assembly to difficult for a nonprofessional.I can tool but Im no pro.Anyway the guy used to work for Borg Warner and I guess when they changed owners a bunch of guys got free parts. For $800 bucks should I risk trying to assemble the 2 trannys myself. Sorry such a long post
Guest iamjackal
Okay I spoke to the guy and he has a dozen mainshafts, a bunch of short and long input shafts, 20 tailstocks and at least 20 cases. I think Im gonna jump on the deal and try to find an assembly manual. What do you guys think.Im giving the guy some cash to hold it for me till I get enough money.whenever I get the parts I may have some extras available if you guys with t56s need some parts for very reasonable prices. So let me know whay you guys think. All the parts are 94 or newer.I can also get complete trannys from this guy for 150 bucks but they are the new Ford 5 speeds used in Mustangs. Mikelly
Good luck. I was pretty good at rebuilding Z 5speeds, but those T56s have many more parts and electricals... Not for the faint of heart!
