Crazydevil
I recently pulled a rear end out of a 300z, and it has lsd. The question I have is, is it a R200. The reason I ask is the diff list says that it should be but it shouldn't have lsd. Now I thought that someone may have put it in the car but I just ran across another 84 and it also has lsd. Now I have been told that no 84 300z's came with lsd only the turbo 87 and up did. If I have to post a video I will just to prove my point since last time I was told to shut up and no 84 has lsd. I would just like to know so I can figure out if I want to run this in my z, and also get it posted on the diff list.
Guest TeamNissan
People do upgrade their z's from time to time lol. STOCK is 87+.....
RB26powered74zcar
Lets see some pictures of the LSD. If you pulled a LSD out of a 84, some body that had that car before put it in, as no 84's came with a LSD...
Crazydevil
Okay guys, I will pull it apart this weekend. I will also go to the junkyard and take video of the other 300z. But one question. Is it a R200 diff? I know the list says it is but just want to make sure.
Administrators BRAAP Posted February 9, 2008 Administrators Share Posted February 9, 2008 You sir should to go down to the quickie mart and buy a lottery ticket… How are you determining these to be LSD? If those are indeed truly LSD, then they were installed by someone else, and also being as the aftermarket supports LSD for the R-180, and the Suby also came with an LSD R-160, and the R-160, R-180 and R200 will fit, we have no idea what diff is in the car until we can see it for ourselves. Guest TeamNissan
Suby came with the r180 as well . Couldn't he tell if it is a r200 by seeing if the axles are equal or offset?
Crazydevil
Well it's late and I took a video today of me spinning the wheels of the 300z. Now I had my wife hold onto the wheel and I spun the other wheel and it spun right out of her hands. Then I went to a 78 280z and I know the 78's are open diff and I spun it and the other side just sat there. I'm going to take the rear case off and take some pic's so you guys can tell me what is up. I'll get those posted tomorrow. Also if it is not LSD then what is it? This is the second car I have came across in the area and I would like to know. Pic's will be up tomorrow, and video should be to.
Crazydevil
Well guys pulled it apart and you are right not LSD. It was welded. Not going to use it, because I want to turn.
RB26powered74zcar
See... there are some pretty dam smart Z guru's that hang out here.... If both wheels spin, you prolly got in front of you a welded diff, a viscious diff, a phantom grip, or clutch lsd.
