2fast2Z
Have any of you any experience with the RD28 motor, it is used in some Patrol, Laurel and Cedric models, the bore and stroke is similar to the LD28, so I'm wondering if the block is the same as LD28 and if the crank is a V07 and can be used for a stroker. CamH
I think that engine is more similar to an RB series engine.
SUNMASTER
I stand corrected but I think it is using a timing belt
Raami
Yes that RD28-engine is similar to RB-engine. I have heard that it is possible to put RB-head to RD-block. I had Patrol which had RD28T-engine.
Gareth
It's true that it's derived from the RB, but it has flipped intake and exhaust ports - the turbo is on the left side when looking from the front of the car. I've heard that these heads are prone to cracking, and that in general the RD is not a very good engine to start with. I drove one a while back, it was fun! I loved the turbo "WHOOOOOOSH" when accelerating hard. Answering the main question - it has almost nothing in common with the LD28. LDs for the European market were sold in older Patrols and Laurels, and I can't think of anything else.
2fast2Z
Well i think i got my question answered, LD28 also came in 280C (cedric) Both Patrol and Laurels came with RD28, maybe some older models had the LD28, worth digging in to. Gareth
Yep, the C32 Laurel had the RD28 engine, while the C31 had the LD28.
