Guest mattrp
Well, I finally got the sending gear for my tranny and the cable so I can hook up my speedometer (7 months and counting figuring out the speed from the gear and tach). I have unfortunately lost my JTR manual. What was the method for calibrating the speedometer?? If I remember right the datsun one needs more revolutions per mile than the chevy one, but I have smaller tires and a 3.54 rearend, so will this come close to original?? 74_5.0L_Z
Use the following formula to calculate your speedometer gears. Driven gear teeth=(Drive Gear teeth * axle ratio * tire rev per mile)/1024
MYRON
What tranny and speedo combo are you using? I am using the autometer and a turbo 350. I have a 3.54 gear and 25" tires. I have to get a 17/40 gear set for my tranny... I saw a chart in a Pontiac enthusiast magazine the other day that had about 5 different gear ratios and tire sizes with the 1:1 final drive....
