My diff has a clunk INSIDE!!

If I put my parking brake on, and take the tranny out of gear, I can turn the drive shaft say a 1/12 or maybe a little less of a turn without the half shafts moving at all. All the ujoints are fressh, and the bearings are good so I know its inside the diff.

Is this something to be concerned about or is this normal. It doesnt appear to be getting worse but it sure makes an annoying clunk!

It may be the front of your diff hitting the bottom of the car when it shifts. Does it only do it when you shift?... Check the mount on the front of the diff. and also check the strap that goes over the top

of the diff.

I have absolutely strapped the diff solid to the mount with a metal strap so there is no question about that there. I am pretty darn sure the problem is inside.
