HB280ZT
Hi All, Well I have been working an issue with turbo surge, as mentioned in this thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=129000 Well I desided to try something and see what happened. I started playing with the spark angle and I have almost gotten rid of what I thought was turbo surge. Not really sure how I did this but it works so I will take it. So if one of the MS gurus can explain it to me go for it! Here are my old and new tables. Hope this helps someone out!
mobythevan
Looks like the two files you attached are VE tables, not the spark tables.
HB280ZT
Thanks for the heads up Moby! Well for some reason when I export my spark tables it gives me the VE table instead?? However, I managed to capture the screen and provided it in my first post. I should know better then to post stuff without first looking at it!! Matt Cramer
Interesting. Retarding the timing too much causes the fuel to burn in the exhaust manifold, sort of like an anti-lag setup (well, exactly like certain anti-lag setups).
HB280ZT
Matt, It was just something that I thought that I would try and it worked, go figure. Do you have another idea that I can try? Also if anyone has a spark table that works with there turbo setup I would like to look at it? Thanks
mario_82_ZXT
I'm using Moby's with only like a deg or 2 pulled under full boost so I can run crappy 87 octane since I'm broke right now... Mario
HB280ZT
So is anyone willing to share there spark tables? Just remember to put what your setup is when you do this so that people have a reference to start with. Here is my setup for the above tables: MS 1 V3 with 29v Extra code 82 ZX turbo motor with N42 head using turbo cam T3/TO4 turbo intercooler Tial BOV running 12 psi boost manual DIY boost controller 60mm TB Thanks
mobythevan
Did you already look through the spark tables people have put up in the map sharing sticky? Some of them are in jpeg format so you don't have to download and open msq files.
HB280ZT
Yes I have but I want more, more, more I say!! OK back to reality! I was hoping to get more turbo based spark tables to refer to vice NA tables. Thanks for the help, so please post more!
Clifton
I wouldn't pull timing after 4500, it's not helping. I would drop timing around peak torque and add it in after up to redline. It looks like most of the timing you pulled was off boost too and after 3400, I would start adding it after 3900. One way to rid it of surge would be to pull alot of timing at lower rpms were you are experiencing surge.
HB280ZT
Clifton, Thanks for the info. I was looking at adding timing in the upper rpm but below 100kpa. Matter of fact I am only getting surge above 3500 rpms and it maybe because I am taking timing out up high, hum!! Will have to update my spark table again and see what happens. Thanks
Clifton
If you only surge above 3500 but can make full boost below that, I don't know if it's surge. As the revs increase the airflow requirement does too and reduces the chance of surging. I would think it would be in the 2500-3000 rpms range with that turbo. niner11
This map has worked well for me. Using a t3/to4 hybrid 57trim .63ar on a stock longblock with 240sx tb. So far nothing more than about 12psi
