You're better off connecting a wideband to it and adjusting the ve tables according to that. For me, on the highway, anything over 16.5:1 and I can feel the engine start to buck (could also be due to a lot of timing), but I try to keep it at around 16:1 and I see around 28mpg cruising at 3100 rpms. That's why stock distributors have vacuum advance - for mileage. With programmable spark, you can have vacuum advance and boost retard.
