SleeperZ31
Anyone know of a better direct-fit or otherwise compatable manual transmission for the vg30e or z31's? Anything that might have better gearing/stronger as im looking to improve 0-60 times and overall driveability by any means possible.
Racinjitter
fs5r30a. That is the strongest bolt in tranny made for a vg30e/t
hoov100
i wonder if you could use a z32 TT gear set in a 30a housing.
Racinjitter
i wonder if you could use a z32 TT gear set in a 30a housing. http://www.z31performance.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2536 The info is in there, just scroll down to read kennedy's posts. Also rfs5r30a is the same exact internals as 87-89 z31t fs5r30a and rb25det rfs5r30a.

hoov100
just watch out for that 5'th gear its pretty big and acceleration is pretty slow until you get into boost..

mtcookson
My info is in the Z31 Performance post above but to use a Z32 5-speed on a VG30E(T) you just need an 89-91 Maxima flywheel (early 85-88 might work as well if any are made for them) along with either a Maxima clutch kit or an 84-86 300ZX clutch. Z32 throw out bearing and starter work perfectly with this setup.

If so I have a casing here that can be built up with the internals.
HowlerMonkey
Since a very similar tranny came on the pathfinder 2wd models, I would assume the clutch application to work with that tranny as well.
