skewie09
Ok, I got the head done and everything ran great. Until now....I noticed oil in the driveway. The blue circle is the bolt that broke off when the timing cover was put on, it runs through the waterpump and into the timing cover, I know this needs to be fixed. The red circle is where I noticed a hole for a bolt. Is there supposed to be one? From what I was noticed with how the oil is leaking, I think it may be the seal for the main pully and crankshaft, I dont know what the seal is called. Any ideas? nick.mitchell69
blue circle gets a bolt YES,not too sure about the red circle though, picture not that clear looks like it just behind the crank pulley.... i just did my rear main seal, you need to do your main crank pulley seal, thats what it is to me,its quite an easy job which can be done without taking your motor out.... skewie09
ok, the bolt that is broke off in the waterpump that goes through the timing cover. When I was taking off the waterpump and radiator I did have oil in the system. I believe that broken bolt is the reason for that. Well, I have to have the car running by Monday for work. I was wondering for a temp. fix if anyone knows of anything I can do to seal that hole? Like a sealent I can fill the hole that I would be able to fix later when I have the time to pull the timing cover. I could really use the input soon, I have to have everything put back by tomarrow. Thanks for reading.
nick.mitchell69
use a gasket sealer then plug the hole with silicon or poly-urethane once youve tightened the water pump, that should block it temporarily
skewie09
Sounds good, lets see what happens tomarrow. Thanks for the idea.
woldson
Might want to keep an eye on water in the oil, or vise versa.
skewie09
Test drove it around the block full throtte and came home to check and I have no leak that I can see. Will check it in the morn. Also my lifters are clicking. I have oil in it and they are still clicking, I might have to get them adjusted, but I did that 1 month ago. Should I already be doing them again? nick.mitchell69
So hows the temp fix on the leak holding up?
skewie09
its holding up good with the temp., I did notice a lil bit of oil on my drive way but with being short on cash. It will have to do for now. Also, with the ticking noise, it wasent my lifters, it was my injectors, but they are okay. just loud
nick.mitchell69
Ticking injectors...?!?
skewie09
well, the noise that i thought was ticking, was actually pulsing
silver280zx
I would take your valve cover off and re-torque your studs, and make sure they are all still there. I had an oil leak, an i found out that my number 6 stud broke off at the head, and it caused a slow leak.
