NZeder
Ok got busy tonight after work. The stainless steel headers that came with this engine are a very close fit. And they almost fit but they are fowling on the flange at the floor but only just. You see the engine mounts have been modified for the captive engine mounts and this has raised the engine 5mm from the standard castle main mount. So if this was not done I believe there would be no issues. Having said that I plan to install the RB30 in the future so that will lift the head 38mm from where it sits now so I am going to see if I can get the header modified to lower the flange. Anyway here are some pics.
NZeder
Some more pics - the cross member is the not the final one just one spare that I had. We can now fab up the gearbox mount and sort a few other things in the engine bay before the engine is removed and the body work finished once and for all. zmaster
Looks good. What engine mouts are you using?
NZeder
Looks good. What engine mouts are you using?Modified Castlemain Rodshop units. The Castlemain mounts are designed to use the standard zed isolator but I am using the Energy Suspension isolator partnumber #2.1102 as they have a safety interlock design see http://www.energysuspension.com/pages/univ3.html and here http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=120218&highlight=2.1102 So we cut off the ears and welded on a new 5mm plate that had longer ears for these wider mounts. tonycharger72
I used the CRS engine mounts and ZR200 sump (think that is what its called, RB20 rear mounted sump from the Z31) and had to use spacers underneath the engine mounts to keep the sump of the steering rack - from memory I added about 10-15mm to gain clearance!!! Thanks for that - I guess I should now try the rack in there too given your comments. I also think that engine mount that I am using is just a little taller when installed - time will tell. I have checked your gallery and you have pics of the 2jzge install do you have any of your RB install with the CRS mounts?
Six_Shooter
Forgive my ignorance of th RB series engines, but does the RB30 have a taller deck hight than teh RB26 and that's where the extra 38mm hight comes from?

Correct. The RB30 block is 38mm taller than the RB20/25/26 blocks. I have an RB30 block but this engine in the photos is not my RB30
tonycharger72
Hey mate, PM your email and I will send you a bunch of pics - then you can host them on here (I dont know how , The RB30 is indeed quite a bit tall and you will see the fun my hood latch has had dealing with it, finally gave up trying to avoid it and crushed it good!!! Everything fit great until I slapped the gearbox on and then the sump was sitting right on the rack - the sump slops down at the front from left to right (if you are standing at the front of the car) and this just sits on the rack, I will try and take pics of my gearbox crossmember to and fling them your way - its a stock one modified because the engine sits so far back in the engine bay, but if it wasnt you would almost certainly have to modify the stock shifter location forward - so at least they got that part right!!! tonycharger72
Here is some pics in my gallery! Dont let the first few fool you, http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=13462 http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=13460 http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=13460 http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=13463 This is what I had to do to get it all stuffed under the bonnet, dont laugh !!! http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=19601&cat=500 http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=19602&cat=500 The turbo wasnt even clost to fitting, but also the big XF throttle body (which, f#cking sucks) didnt fit under the stock bonnet either!!! However, with the stock Manifold, stock throttle body, stock cross over pipe it all fits, just!!! I will take some pics of the engine mounts and steering rack,
