1 fast z
Why, it shows NO improovment on a flow bench, or in a real motor.
ShaggyZ
I took the exhaust sleeves out of a N-47 head. is it still ok to use? It's okay to use. Plenty of people have done it. EDIT: I mean... no, you're in big trouble! You should buy my N47 head for $150 shipped!

1 fast z
Bigest thing would be exhuast flow is going to be hurt, since it does not match the EX manifold. You "might" see the engine run a little hotter, since there is no sheild from the port now, and they are cast thinner than a square port head. That's what I was worried about.....I guess it is just a piece of aluminum scrab now...no worries.
jtl260z
That's what I was worried about.....I guess it is just a piece of aluminum scrab now...no worries. A buddy of mine cut his out years ago and had no problems at all.
Sam280Z
I've been running one with no liners for over 10 years now. No problems. Never put it on a flow bench though. 1_fast, are you speaking from experience when you say it shows no improvements and potentialy hurts flow? I'd like to see some hard numbers since I'm getting ready to build another motor and have a few unmolested heads lying around... Thanks, Sam
1 fast z
I own a flow bench, and have tested it. I know guys that have tried it on their cars, and never saw a gain. I said it would work, but it has the potential to run hotter.
HowlerMonkey
Only if the cooling passages were changed to deal with the lesser amount of heat needed to be taken out if the liners indeed do insulate enough that nissan felt the need to change said passages. kvansic162
I guess I'll just keep the n47 head I have on the car now. It has the sleeves still. I'l just bolt a stock turbo manifold on it and hit the boost.
1 fast z
Just make sure you add the fuel to it also!
