Owen
I can disassemble the inner side of the CV joint but I cannot remove the outer portion which has the stub axle attached to it (for Q45). All snap rings were removed but no matter how hard I pound it, I can't get it off. And I'm afraid of damaging the race as well. Anyway to do this without special tools? I already have a slide hammer, hydro press, and a bearing splitter and still couldn't get it off. If the diff was solidly mounted, I could attach the inner flange to it and use the slide hammer on the other end...but the diff isn't mounted and I already removed all the inner CV parts. blueovalz
I've never disassembled this axle in particular, but I know that the ZX axles were peened on the end of the splines and also use the clip too, which seemed kind of redundant. The press pushed it out, but this may not be your case.
Owen
I finally whacked them off with a big hammer, I don't need the outers but I would have rather taken them off instead of half destroying them. Thanks though! Owen
