chrism
Found this link on classiczcars. I'm going to try this with my clock. http://classiczcars.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=23622&d=1212753644
ktm
Trust me, it is just A LOT easier to simply convert your clock to modern quartz movement. I did the conversion in about an hour. I have to use a AA battery to power my clock, but you eliminate the old system.
psdenno
Anyone have a current source for a quartz clock movement to replace the stock internals? I've seen suggestions for a kit from Michael"s craft store and another from Walmart. I'm looking for something that fits easily in the "can" and doesn't require too much work to make the stock hands fit. Currently available suggestions appreciated. chrism
what is so hard about replacing a couple of caps and a transistor? I’m not sure I want to have a device in the car that needs the batteries replaced every so often. I wouldn’t go as far as testing it on an O-scope. Just replace the caps and transistor (shot gun). If it doesn’t work then go for the new movement. These parts are easy to get.
m4xwellmurd3r
hmm I should do this with mine. It still ticks, but really really slowly. However, it could be possible that it's just gummed up bad.
RedFive
Hey thanks for finding this. I'm gonna do this tomorrow!
Bartman
I don't remember if it was from here or classiczcars, but I fixed my clock based on a post about lubing the gears and it works great. I'd try that first.
