chb280z
I was wondering if these are the same as the L28ET dished pistons? They are from my 77 L28E w/ the N42 head so early. And was going to turbo it and just trying to make sure that they would be ok? Thanks, Chris
m4xwellmurd3r
the turbo and n/a dished pistons are the same, but i think the turbo's got forged pistons. I know the cast ones are ok to use on a turbo, but you'd want to use the P90 head (naturally, better flow, and a lower compression ratio to help you on boosting it)
1 fast z
Ok, here is the REAL deal on the differences. NO Z car piston ever in the life of z cars has ever been forged from the factory. ALL Z car pistons 75-80 has a 10cc dish, with 2mm top comp ring, and 2mm second comp ring. ALL 81-83 Dished (turbo) pistons are exactly the same, EXCEPT they have a 1.5mm top compression ring. chb280z
so can i just get some turbo rings and be fine? And i have heard that the P79's flow the same as the P90 and would there be any really noticible power loss w/ the p79?
1 fast z
P79, VS P90 stock, do flow the same, BUT you can work a P90 more extensivly, as the P79 ports are MUCH thinner, due to the semi vortex intake runner design. NO you cannot just throw Turbo rings on a Dished NA piston.
chb280z
So should i try to find some turbo pistons or would i be better off just to spring for some forged pistons and what price range am i looking at for each? also 1 fast z since you are a head guy take a look at another thread i started and see if you can give some insight there. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=133489
steveosupremeo
why not just get some new rings for the pistons you have?? stock 75-80 piston rings. makes sense.
chb280z
i guess that would make sense. and as for other parts when i am putting this thing back to gether shoulg anything alse be changed from OEM (ie. berings...) or will direct replacments from black dragon be ok?
