mamba_888
Hey y'all... Thought I'd share this to all of you. "A valve tool that will replace the valve springs and valve stem seals with the head on the engine or off". http://toyotool.com/ Check put the video at their site. Very interesting and quick tool. I wonder if it will work for the Z's
2eighTZ4me
That'd be a really tight fit with the cam in. Secondly - if the head is off the car (and you've ever tried to remove keepers from a valve train with any kind of significant mileage) you'll know that the valve will just push right down out of the head when you push on the spring and try to compress it to get the keepers out. Need some way to support the valve and keep it on the valve seat (I've used styrofoam before). Cool tool though. Someone needs to buy one and check it out! mamba_888
If you noticed on the video, the guy laid down those orange half-balls . I think they are called valve stoppers and the sell them also for 3.50 in the purchase page. You're absolutely right about the valve going down to the cylinder when doing this in-car!!! That'd be a really tight fit with the cam in. mario_82_ZXT
The shop I used to work at used a very similar tool on a 2JZ-GTTE engine. The shop owner got it from the local supra specialist. We stuffed the cylinder with nylon rope to use as a valve stopper. The technician said that it was one of the easiest valve stem seal replacement he had ever done. Dunno if it will work on the Z though... Mario
ZXT_bean
you could always make sure that each cylinder is at tdc, and fill each combustion chamber with compressed air, and do it that way.. the valves will never fall then. thats a really neat tool
