Guest znow white
I have this relay from a 300zx its got pins 3 5 1 2 1. would those numbers be the wires directly across the relay 2. what are these in retrospect to the megasquirt schematic ? 85 86 87 30 im thinking 3=30 5=87 1=86 2=85 (just by matching the picture by im not sure again) so if i know the answer to the above questions i wire the relays on schematic 30= +12v all the time 87= power up MS2 85= GROUND 86= +12 v switched power? does my source have to have +12v when cranking as well? do i have to run 2 relays? i only got this one for now...cause the fuel pump relay is different pin 37 of db is going into 85 erh is it me or relays are damn confusing someone please let me know if im doing this right cause i dont want to fry anything
SidWell
It looks right. Before you apply the power to the MS take a few minutes and power up the relay, take a multimeter to pins 3 & 5 and make sure it is closed. I would suggest that you learn a bit more about the relay you have. Specifically find out how much current it is rated for and where you can find a replacement. evildky
yes thts correct but if it confuses you just go to your local autoparts store and buy a standard automotive 5 pin relay, they contacts are labled with the same numbers shown on the schematic
Guest znow white
i think im just going to go get 2 new standard bosche type relays so everything was right? 30= +12v all the time (should i get from batterey or alternator?) 87= power up MS2 85= GROUND 86= +12 v switched power? does my source have to have +12v when cranking as well? dts300z
If you disconnect the plug from the relay and get a light and look inside of the relay where the connector would plug in the numbers from the reverse side (or the top) will be next to the corrisponding terminals. Edit: and yes you are correct on your asumption! I use those relays all the time
evildky
yes you need hot when cranking as well otherwise the MS unit will nto ahve power and your engine will crank with no fuel or spark
