EDIS-8 trigger wheel LT1

Hey guys thought I would share an upcomming project for the LT1. I have decided to go ahead with the MSII and EDIS-8 and so far I have picked up all the EDIS-8 module, VR sensor, Reluctor wheel (which I used for the design demension wise for the new 36-1 wheel), coil packs and all the associated pig tails. I also finished up the design for the new 36-1 wheel so I thought I would post up the design for some cretiquing.

I also show the hub and balancer in the section and the hub in the front view...

I thought I would try and put a little thought in this since I have not seen too much for the LT1 due to the opti... I have seen several artices but everyone seem to just bolt the 36-1 wheel to the balancer so I wanted to try something different.

Is that three-pin mounting design with spacers going to cause interference with the EDIS signal?

No, it should not interfere at all. The sensor is ~1mm from the teeth, so the rest of the wheel will be in the noise.

Nice work BTW.

Thanks for the input so far! I made a few tweeks to the design (rotating the wheel properly to match the 50 degree mark). Also designed a mounting bracket for the VR sensor that bolts inplace of the opti for easy install and it should fit nicely under the water pump. I'm going to try and get the brackets cut in the next week or so and I'll post up some pictures of everything mounted on the engine. Hopefully my measurements are correct lol...

alright!!!! got the VR sensor bracket back. I designed it to bolt in place of the opti. Here are some pictures of it. You will notice there is plenty of adjustment up and down for spacing off the wheel.

Here it is mounted and with the VR sensor attached. Plenty of room as you can see...

woohoo man it fits good... I can't wait to get the trigger wheel back to see how that fits. I should have it back next week sometime. This is just a mockup engine excuse the mess!

So I would have to say this is coming together really well!

The next two show comparison between the ford wheel and mine. Turned out really well.

I mocked it up to show how everything fits together.

Its been a slow process but it is surely turning out well.

Thanks! I'll probably finish mocking it up and be sure I have it nice and true. I hope it is close because there is no wiggle room up and down just rotational for timing adjustment. I will surely stick it in a lathe and get it straight for safety sake though. Hope its not too far out...

OK finally making some more progress... I got an ATI hub to mount everything on and unfortunately the indexing is different than I planned for the factory hub key way so I will still need to get another wheel made. Since I have this one I went ahead and set it up with the spacers and the rest of the hardware for visual aid and to be sure everything is going to clear properly. Also in case you are wondering the new wheel will be hub centric to the ATI hub so there will be minimal runout... Enjoy!!
