JIM73240Z
i am putting the finishing notches on my roll cage and i am left with the harness bar. fyi, i have ultra safe seats and my shoulders come up about half way through the harness hole in the seat back. the harness is then supposed to be at a 10-15 degree angle up off of the shoulders to the harness bar. great. the deal is i think the horizontal bar should be welded to the node of the first bent in the main hoop. in my situation, the bar would be located about 1 1/2" below where the harness needs to be. should i: A. put the horizontal harness bar at the correct location for the harness and leave it alone or B. put the horizontal bar in the correct location of the main hoop and add a short horizontal bar above for the harness ?????????? tia jimbo
johnc
The best harness installation instructions I've found are from Schroth: http://www.schrothracing.com/docs/Competition_Instructions.pdf That should give you a good idea where the harness bar goes in the main hoop. Keep in mind that the harness bar's primary purpose is to provide a mounting place for your shoulder harnesses. It should be positioned to support that purpose.
