Kitchens
Well we've come to the conclusion that the fuel tank has a clog preventing the gas to get to the fuel pump. There was also a dent in the tank where the PO hit something. We were going to take it to a radiator shop and have it cleaned, but it would be a waste if it needed to be replaced anyway. Anyway any suggestions would be appreciated. Here's the main question though: Can a 280zx fuel tank go on a 77 280z?
Daeron
I'm pretty sure you are going to NEED to use a fuel tank from a 77 280Z; in fact, you may even have a limited range of production months to choose from. I know my old man had a very very limited range for his 78 280Z, and I know the 77s were somewhat easier, but IIRC the last 2 years of production on the 280Z saw 3 or 4 totally different gas tanks. Maybe someone with some more specific recollections can chime in??
Kitchens
That's good to know I guess. Ok then, if anybody has bought a fuel tank for a 77, where'd you get it? I checked Black Dragon and Motorsport Auto, but I didn't see any.
SpeedRacer
You might try taking it here http://www.gastankrenu.com/ as they can recondition just about any tank. I had it done to my tank about eight years ago and it's still in great shape.
