rvandivort
Hi, Anyway of reversing this? Thot of prying the thing. I screwed up and put the dots to the inside--didn`t see the U... Family reunion happening!!!.I could just get a premade one. It was a good way of relearning soldering!I`m afraid of putting too much heat to the unit. Also, can You program V3 after assembly, or do you have to go in steps-as per the MS instructions during assembly? We are getting broadband here in two weeks..so the downloads won`t be as long.....still waiting!! Thanks, Roger:confused:
rvandivort
And there is a lot of close soldering on the V3!!
jeffer949
Im sorry but i read what you did and im not understanding. Slow down a bit and explain what happened completely
rvandivort
It`s the unit underneath the 6 pin and the power switch..on the right hand side(with the pots on the bottom).
jeffer949
More details please. what board? the stim board or the ecu? you mention the "stim ecu" I know the stim board and i know the v3.0 main board. But there isnt a ecu on the stim.
rvandivort
I screwed up and did it backwords--too much distractions!
jeffer949
DID what backwards? what number? Like the u3 or d2 or r3 number?
rvandivort
The stim first! The rest..just wanting to know if I can go through the assembly process without checking every stage. In other words, can I program it later?
rvandivort
On the V3
jeffer949
Are you saying you soldered the DB37 backwards? like the one for the stim you put on the ecu. and the one for the ecu on the stim?
rvandivort
NO..I soldered the 16 pin control unit backwords---I`m screwed. Just wondering if there is a way out of My Hell--everything else checked out.
rvandivort
It may be not called an "ecu",but it is the control module as explained above. Under the on /off switch w/ 16 contacts to the board.
rvandivort
I just want to know if there is a way of releasing it from the board..with all the contacts (16)--without damage! If not I`ll just get another one.
jeffer949
So why not unsolder it and solder it in the correct way? Just get some solder wick(braided copper wire) Its only 16 pins
rvandivort
Also ,there was the question about the V3 board and delaying programming until total assemby.
rvandivort
So, Jeffers..are You telling Me I can`t hurt the thing by excessive heat? Thanks! What is solder wick?..use 22 g copper stranded wire?, tryed suction.
jeffer949
http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kw=desoldering+braid regular stranded wire wont work. you should be able to pick up the wick at any radio shack. If you want a more mechanical way. go with this http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062731&cp=&sr=1&origkw=desoldering&kw=desoldering&parentPage=search
rvandivort
I tried to do this thing by laying down the soldering iron horizontally across each side, waiting, and then pulling up.I`m trying to find a way to solve this problem. How does the solder wick work? rvandivort
Ok, saw the RS thing. I have suction..the only question I have is-how much heat can I apply?
rvandivort
without destroying it.
