sweetleaf Posted September 3, 2008 Share Posted September 3, 2008 Yes you can add UV dye to your engine oil. It will help you find intermittent or seeping oil leaks. If it is a bigger leak, just clean all the old oil and crud off. Then run it hot and see where she flows. BTW you need a UV light to see the dye. jbk240z Posted September 3, 2008 Share Posted September 3, 2008 I used to work at Pep Boys and we had the dye in the service dept. You can try asking the service guys about it. I know I sold a few vials of the dye. The dye was inexspensive IIRC. Good luck. An ordinary black light bulb should work for tracing the leak. Easy to find come Halloween.
