vqpwrd240 Posted September 8, 2008 Share Posted September 8, 2008 I have just finished installing a GM 3 wire alternator in my 72 Z. I have gone through the write up on the forums on how to do it. I now need to know what to do with the wires that go to the voltage regulator. I did see some diagrams showing what to do with them on a 76 and newer. Please help. Thanks in advance. Six_Shooter Posted September 8, 2008 Share Posted September 8, 2008 Leave them alone. I used a newer 12SI (IIRC) alternator on my '73. I used the ignition circuit that went to the regulator to energize the GM alternator. I actually used the original harness from the regulator, cut it off and made an "adaptor harness" to attach to the GM alternator.
