sdj02
I just got this 280 ZX hybrid with a 318 in it. I understand why the factory engine gauges don't work, but the fuel gauge does not work either. The light works when it is low, but there are no bars on the gauge at all. I am new to this world of Z cars. Can someone point me in the right direction of where to start with this problem? I don't want to replace a sending unit if there is no power to the gauge or something simple like that. Any ideas would be helpful!! Thanks. woldson
By the time the light goes on you REALLY are low. Since the light goes on, mabe the sending unit is ok, check with a volt ohm meter.

Guest michanic220
if you lift up the back mat there should be a cover plate with two phillip screws in it. if you take that off, there's your sending unit and all the lines going into your tank. when im low on fuel my car tells me.. it talks. but my dads wasnt like that so i dont think they all are. check the fuses if there is one. some cars have them others dont. but if the lights on it might not be the sending unit like was priviously stated above. also check how much gas is in the tank. roger.svoboda
you need to tell us what gage panel you have analog or digital. If digital since you say bars they are a problem. I'd pull the console out look at the connections. Check the printed circuit conductors for corrosion or melted. clean connections to the unit clean connections to the sender. check continuity or wiring from sender to gage. You need to be a bit more explicit in stating your problems. You'll get help if people can understand what you are asking.

I did not realize there was 2 different panels. I have the digital panel in my car. I am now in the process of trying to remove the panel to check all connections. Thanks for all of the help.
