saundc2
I just bought an 86 300zx non turbo. I was thinking about putting a turbo on it and I was wondering what the best route to go with that was. Is the easiest way to use the turbo and parts from a 300zx turbo? Also how much should I expect to spend doing this?
evildky
the easiest way is to get a complete running donor to take the whole engine, harness, ecu, mas, crossmsmber etc, you cna turbo the n/a engine but you'll need to remap the fuel for the higher compression
Vintage
What myself and my father did with our '86, we bought a turbo donor that'd been in a frontend wreck (busted block and such) and pulled the turbo manifolds. Bolted those up in our car and swapped in the turbo ECU (plugs right in). However, I think we had to use the factory alternator setup from the turbo, because its on the other side of the engine, so you'll have to extend the wires for it. This has been a while back, and I'm just going off the top of my head. But overall, turboing the NA engine was pretty easy for us.
Vg30eT-240z
yeah it is pretty easy, along side with the ECU manifold and turbo itself, and alternator. all you need is the injectors & fuel rail, oil pan, crossmember, hot pipe, and that little tube for your intake, my friends stock 84 NA-T ran a 14.55 on 6psi
