g9m3c
OH... flat tops... ouch. Most people throw those away, or if they keep them.. they're used as door stops or paper weights. Could be that the float is stuck at the TOP now and is not allowing much gas into the bowls. Getting stuck at the bottom would have caused your earlier gas going everywhere problem. If it got stuck once, it could have easily happened again. Unless you're trying to keep it all original and 100% stock, I wouldn't bother. The flat tops are in a word, terrible. You will get much better performance out of the 240Z round top SU's. If I didn't need some of the parts off my spare set still, I would have offered you mine. I do wish I had a set of round tops, but like I said before, this motor will probably only be in the car for another 6 months or so. I have an LT1 sitting in my garage. I'm putting the bare minimum amount of cash into this thing to get it running fairly well for a few months. The car has 62,000 miles on it with the flat tops, surely it can do another couple thousand.
g9m3c
Does anyone know how to remove the float pivot pin in flat tops? There's a plug that screws out the side of the carb, and the end of the pivot pin is under there. However, there's no way to push it out from the other side. g9m3c
Anyone have some input? I need to get these things apart.
g9m3c
Alright, here's a little pictorial to help out. This is looking down through where the plug screwed out. The other end of the float pin is under the body of the carb here. No way to push it out the hole in the other side of the body.
Dayz
I just just long nose pliers to pull it out, from what I remember! Your mothers tweezers or that kind of thing. It shouldn't be hard to pull out Dayz
g9m3c
Pliers couldn't get a good grip on it. A guy over on classiczcars helped me out with the suggestion of using a roll pin. It worked awesome.
blue72
That's a trick I'll have to file away in my memory. Good to see you got the thing out. Hope you get it running soon so you can experience the full fury of your 2.6 inline liters.
