VQ or SR in s30 for autox/roadrace

For autocross: VQ

For roadracing: SR

Does that answer your question? ;)

You asked! If it's one or the other, I'd go VQ, as torque is king and you can get good HP from a VQ. You can get torque from an SR, but that requires a turbo and once again makes it the less than optimum setup for autocrossing. How about a turbo VQ? Best of both worlds, if you are stuck with just one of those two options, I'd say.

Having owned a S14 blacktop SR20DET and currently owning a VQ35DE I would have to go with the VQ.

I don't want to get into it because im kind of biased right now but, the main reasons being the N/A power/throttle response, torque, simplicity & lower heat over turbo engine.

Depends on how much $ is going to be spent on the engines and their respective weights, both should give 50/50 weight distribution although the V6 may not quite.

If you are willing to do the SR20DET properly then I agree with Savage42's choices.

Forgetting that both are shorter blocks than the Line 6. Give you room to move weight around.

stock for stock, i would go with the VQ. You can always add more HP later, and dealing with inspection regulations can be a pita with the SRs.

If you plan on doing this, make sure you also transplant the cat and both O2 sensors also :P
