forchunet
I may be picking up a 280z 2+2 as a parts car for my 78 Z. My question is, are the rear fenders and doglegs on the 2+2 compatible with the 2 seater Zs? I plan to cut them out and weld them onto my car. Thanks. Challenger
No, not the same... Dont cut up the rockers on the 2+2 if their nice. I sold a nice rocker panel for $200. Clean 2+2's are getting rare, try to find a coupe.
Tony D
Agreed, not the same. With the stuff you can get form Tabco, why go through the bother of 'harvesting' old sheetmetal from another car anyway? Seems like making work. It's one thing if it's not available. But if it is available, why bother with the extra work for an inferior compromise?
forchunet
Well the parts car was coming with a clean L28 and what not so I figured I might as well right? A tree fell on it and only the glass and the roof were damaged.
forchunet
But i've checked into tabco and was skeptical after reading the one post on it and seeing people criticize their fit... Their prices were great though!
Tony D
Critical commentary doesn't mean it necessarily was any more difficult than putting on a used removed piece and having to attend to all those issues. Most cases they are considerably easier to fit than used panels when you consider the warts they may be concealing as used parts. For the effort in harvesting, straightening, and possibly finding rust after a panel is removed...new TABCO parts are money ahead when you look at it. Best thing you will find short of OEM repair panels.
