Getting rid of gas SMELL in tank?

Poor some radiator coolant in the tank and give it a good swish around. The properties in the coolant should take the gas smell off the tank walls and then wash it out. Fill the entire tank with water, dump out the water and then dry the inside out with a heat gun or blow dryer.

Well coolant cost quite a bit. I think they might charge you about $7.00 a gallon. With a 15 gallon average tank that can add up. You wont need that much, just enough to coat the inside was good. But as a more cost effective way, I believe Simple Green will take the smell away too if you can get in well distributed in the tank.

Thanks again guys.

The radiator shop said $40, but suggested if I wanted to do it myself, that I use Denatured Alcohol. So that's what I did. Got a quart for about $7, put in in and then rinsed out with water. Worked pretty well.

I assume that simple green probably would have worked very well too though.
