SpeedRacer
According to the documentation, the dark blue Ferrari 250 GTO replica driven by Tom Cruise in the beginning of the movie "Vanilla Sky" is listed for sale. http://www.ecarlist.com/cgi-bin/showroom.cgi?mode=show&d_id=1176&id=249556 He has a lot of Alpha 1 GTO information but the car isn't an Alpha 1. It looks like it might be a McBurnie.
Challenger
I need to see that movie, looked kind of cool when it came out but it was pg-13 I think.
GOTHALOSISM
The place selling it is an auction house out of Henderson Nevada about 20 miles from where I live.
Boy from Oz
The place selling it is an auction house out of Henderson Nevada about 20 miles from where I live. Is there any chance you could get out there with a camera and get some photos of the sliding windows. I have been planning on doing that to mine and I would like to know how the front pane of glass can slide back that far when the opening appears to narrow towards the rear. It might be that the bottom guide is recessed deeper at the rear, with the upper and lower guide in fact parallel but not square to the sill of the door - if you follow. I would be keen to know how it was done. Thanks

Filmjay
Ya, the nose and tail sections both do not look like Alpha kits. I don't think it's a McBurnie either. The angle on the rear spoiler looks like a Scorpion to me....the nose looks like a McBurnie though. hmmmmm..... $60,000 though?
jerryb
As much as I like these GTO recreations that dark blue doesnt do a thing for me.....dont like it at all. 60K seems too much!
Montezuma
I will ask Tom if it is his car, but I do not think so. I think he only made the two that were used in "Delirious" a John Candy movie from the early 90s. I do not believe he made this one.
amorfin
In the description they claim it was built on a 72 240z, but the title is for a 76 280z.
SpeedRacer
I agree Montezuma, as I don't think Tom McBurnie built this one because it has the high Scorpion Z Car type spoiler on the rear even though it has a hatch and not the trunk kit.
