Can some one tell me which alt wire is suposed to do what. my haynes manual only give the wiring dirgram for the externally regulated alt. I got 12 v on the batt lug and 12v on the red and white wire in the connector what is the green wire in the connector? Any info would be great thank you. Posted February 18, 2009 Share Posted February 18, 2009 go to advanced auto parts and get a 79-83 280zx alternator for 50 bucks turns yours in for the core...i believe since your car is a 280z then you can just plug it up and go(other than making the jumpers)...there will be one plug on the back of the alt. thats not used then you just make 2 jumpers and connect the wires together where the external regulator used to be...there is a write up on alanticz and if you search some there is a few posts with exact write ups Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
