ianz
Hey Everyone just a quick warning about using the Subaru R160 diff.... You need to replace the front coupler with a Datsun coupler from an R160 or R180 (They are the same) but when doing so you must torque the nut back on and can screw up the backlash spacing of the ring and pinion by compressing the crush spacer on the pinion shaft (i.e $150 reshim in my case) Is there any way around this?? Also, the r180 stubs are longer but seem to work (the dust cap just hangs out beyond where it should be ) but the spline are slightly different causing the datsun stubs to have a little rotational play. Has anyone addressed these problems?? Where do I get a datsun diff rebuilt in the LA area?? How much should it cost??
RB26powered74zcar
Ya know, when I put this current 3:70 LSD in my car, I changed out the pinion flange from the z31 to the s30 and did not pay any mind to "correct" torq specs. I just tightned it down tight. Could this be the cause of a growling noise on accel and decel? hmmm

RB26powered74zcar
I just received this responce from Unitrax about an inquire to go thru a R200 LSD Thank you for your interest into UNITRAX Drivetrain Inc. It is a bit difficult to quote a Nissan differential. However, the cost to build your unit if it only needs all of the bearings, seals, and a shim kit is $425.00 as a bench job. If you need a ring and pinion set or other hard parts we will need to quote you after locating the necessary parts. There are no aftermarket providers for gear sets, so it makes quoting challenging. Our policy is that we will tear down, clean up and quote the differential at no charge to you. If you approve the quote, then it is built. If you do not want us to build it, then we can ship it back, unassembled, without any cost to you other than your freight charges(if applicable) to UNITRAX. If you would like to discuss your differential further, please call 800.622.4327.
