Shinta
Hi guys, I'll try and be as brief as possible. About a year ago I bought a 76' Z and it seemed to be everything I could have wanted. Body was strait, no frame rust, strong engine, etc. I'm no mechanic, which is half of the problem lol, but like the topic says, I have a wiring problem. No idea what it may be. I had a friend of the family who is a certified mechanic look at her and he said the wiring was shot and that because so many people had messed with it, it would basically need rewired. Maybe she didn't like him, he DID get shocked. The car runs great, and I just redid the brakes, swapped the FI for an AZC intake manifold and Holly carb, and threw on a MSA 6-into-1, running into a 40 series flowmaster, 82ZX's 5 speed, etc. I honestly didn't know how to look for major wiring problems and put work into this car thinking it was ok. The headlights were a little dim and my hazards didn't work, but I didn't worry too much. Brake lights work fine. Basically, I live in a town home, the inspection is out, and time is ticking before it's towed. Don't really know anyone who is willing to help me park her until the problem is solved and it seems like an expensive and/or painful task. My hopes are basically dashed. Does anyone know where I can get an aftermarket harness that will be durable and not completely impossible to install, or am I truly boned? I know some trustworthy people who could help me, but if it's an expensive job, I may have to give up, which breaks my heart. I mean, I can BUY an inspection sticker and give myself time, but if I can't fix her reasonably, why bother. I have a 1 year old and I was recently laid off from my job at the telephone company after 5 years. LOL, seems I'm boned on all fronts... Sorry for the long post, just don't know what to do anymore. m1noel
I'd get a test light and a wiring diagram. The diagram the guy sells on ebay are great. Then just start tracking down your problems one by one. The ground connections in Z's are notorious for corrosion. If you need to, just replace wires or sections one at a time. And solder them, cover them with shrink tubing, don't use butt connectors. It will take some time but won't be expensive. Good luck, Mike

Shinta
Thanks for the tip, I don't have much choice but to give it a try myself. I took a look at the diagrams on eBay and they seem simple enough, to be honest. Thanks! Oh, I live in Dallas right off of I20 and Cockrell Hill. VinhZXT
All you have to do is search on here and you will find plenty of info to fix both of your electrical problems. You don't need a new harness. Here is a little tips for you: check the big black connectors on the passenger side transmission tunel for corrosion. Clean it real good and this should solve your flasher/signal gremlin. You can do a search for the headlight dim problem. GL
