pitbull1990 Posted April 8, 2009 Share Posted April 8, 2009 i have an 86 turbo and didnt drive my car at all yesterday. then today drove it and as soon as i made it past 5 psi it made a weird ass loud noise. so my question is could it be because of boost spike? or how would i know if it was broken? roger.svoboda Posted April 9, 2009 Share Posted April 9, 2009 boost gage wouldn't show any pressure increase if turbo blown. when my son lost the one on my 280 he said it made a noise like a weed wacker and the oil temp went sky high. Draco Posted April 16, 2009 Share Posted April 16, 2009 hi, can you give a more exact description of the "weird ass sound"? If the turbo is shot you will have alot of smoke, if you disconnect the turbo inlet from the compressor housing and feel the compressor wheel, the wheel will have play when pulling and pushing it as well as more than a mm sideways.....
