ELECTRIC FAN

I AM RE-INSTALLING AN ELECTRIC FAN AND WAS WANTING SOME IMPUT RE: OPERATING. IM THINKING OD DIRECTLY HOOKING UP POWER TO THE REMOTE SELENOID IVE INSTALLED RATHER THAN THE FUSE BOX. I WILL NOT BE RUNNING THE THERMOSTAT FOR FAN AS I HAVE HEARD BAD STORIES AKA FAILURES ETC.. JUST THE OLD HAND TO TOGGLE METHOD.

ANY IMPUT PRO OR CON WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Z/FAN..MIKE.

Mike,

Why not do both? You can always rely on a thermostat for control and wire a switch in that will allow you to turn the fan on manually any time you want. I know that is what I would do but, as always, its your car/your call smile.gif

Painless wiring makes a very nice kit that used a temperature sensor with 3/8NPT fitting that will screw into a properly sized port in the manifold. I used it on my L6 (<a href="http://www.ideal-z.com/howto/faninstall.htm">See it here</a> )and haven't had a bit of trouble. A good friend of mine is running the same setup and has had no problems; it is his daily.

Just my experiences.

I agree with IDEALZ...

I have a Hayden adjustable temp relay that I use and I'm also gonna wire in one of my spare toggles to cover a failure. I'm also using a 16 inch AllStar electric fan that seems to pull enough CFMs... We'll see how next summer treats me!
