Recommended Posts

I just got a 1983 280zx none turbo, 5 speed, with 212000 miles, today, the car run's vary well an it's strong. but the dash light's do not come on, the tail light's do not light up at night on there own, but only when you brake they do, an the side marker light's do not come on. the head light's do an the bright's do also, the poilt light work's an the floor light's work.

the clock work's!!

SO what could or IS the problem, note that i have already changed the fuse's for the dash an nothing has changed...maby its a relay is what im thinking also it's a T-top an i found that there is a water in the rug under the driver passenger side of the car like it's pretty damp so is there somthing electrical under the seat's that got wet???

all the things one should check before buying an automobile. Could be as simple as a bad bulb or as bad as someone cut the wires. buy an ohmeter and a book on what makes electricity work. You better look for rust before you put your foot thru the flooboards or the spare falls out thru the bottom of the wheel well. see photos or post above. hope you got it cheap

Even easier than Ohm meter which is also easy. Buy some coloured wire coils and rewire it all.. Its old wire it would be your best bet anyway and would only take a Saturday to do from Fuse box to lights =-) I about to do the same.. I know my rear lights would go out sometimes and it took pulling the fuse and popping it back it to make them work also dash lights.. seems the Fuse holderes get weak over time or bend with heat =-)
