roger.svoboda
searched but didn't find anything. Does anyone know how to disassemble the side mirrors on the z31. I've got two good shells with bad mirrors and two broken shells with good mirrors because jerks who own Dodge Ram pickups can't be bothered to not slam their doors into your mirrors in a parking lot. RocknTommy
Link: http://www2.zhome.com:81/ZCMnL/84HowTo/300ZXMirrorRepair1.html It is a bit tricky. I have done this about three times now so ask away if you have any questions or if you want to see more pics.

roger.svoboda
thanks I did find that link after I had posted the question. the only thing I might add is that I made a jig out of flatbar (just drill holes that fit the mounting holes and bolt it up with m5 bolts) to hold the mirror then getting the spring off the hook is much easier. Just jam it slightly open with a screwdriver and use a thin long screw driver to get the spring off the hook. Once you do that it comes apart very easily. RocknTommy
Getting it back together is where I struggled. But using some duct tape, it helped to hold the spring in place while you fiddle around trying to hook it back up. I used a pic tool and a screwdriver to get it in place. Once the pic is in the hole where the red arrow is, close the mirror tight, pull the pic and the hook will fall into place. The offset screwdriver is the best tool to remove the mirror screws. If you wrap the handle with tape, it will not scratch the housing while making those half turns to get those little suckers out and back in. roger.svoboda
thanks for that I hadn't got to the assembly stage yet still trying to get the shells painted. I also found that you can get the mirror off the mechanism quite easily with a heat gun. Don't yet know how to re glue but maybe just warm up whatever they used on it. Otherwise need to find some adhesive that will work. Polybutelene maybe???
