240hoke
Hey Guys, I bought some OEM heater control cables for my 240z from MSA. All but one have a curled circular end (like a spring). I was curious is anybody had a picture of this type of cable installed. All of my original ones have straight ends that go into screw type clamps... Another thing I need a couple of the sleeve clamps, if anybody has a part car laying around or something please let me know. Thanks guys
DCZ
The curled end fits over a peg on some of the air flapper valves. On my 73, one of them is on the passenger side for the air intake flapper and the other two are on the driver side for floor/defrost (from memory). I don't have a picture but I'm in Durham and sometimes Raleigh so maybe we can meet up and you could see them in person. damian DOT craig AT duke DOT edu
240hoke
Thanks for the info. I wont be in Raleigh for a while though. My heater controls have two posts on them, one that the curled end can slide over and then another one that a straight wire can slide in. They are both stock, however the one for straight wire has more mechanical advantage. Ill prolly just chop the ends off.
JMortensen
Careful. If you cut them too short than the control won't move to the right spot on the console. Then it seems like people tend to try and really PUSH the lever all the way over. It gets pretty annoying. You can cut a little, but not very much...
