Guest dankinzle
I quote the Haynes manual when I ask this question. What is a "shunt?" I'm wiring my car right now, and there's three things mounted on the passenger side fenderwall. One is the voltage regulator and there's two more things I'm not sure about. One is encased in metal about 2x4x2 inches and the other looks like it's redundant or something. it's encased in plastic with a plastic top. there are four wires coming out of the bottom and if you open the top it just looks like two and two are being connected. That's probably really confusing, and yup I am too. Thanks,
Mike kZ
It sounds like that plastic thing is your fuseable link. Not sure what the metal thing is though.
Owen
Heh, heh. I was wondering the exact same thing the other night? "Shunt???" Owen
pparaska
The 260Z has a shunt under the hood for the AMP meter. This way, they didn't have to have full alternator current going in to the dash. Not sure if the 280Z had that or not. The 240Z has the shunt inside the case for the AMP meter - stupid design, IMO.
