New-to-240z
Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about this TTT Rear end conversion . . . http://www.technotoytuning.com/racing/ I ask because the availability of 240SX and Q45 VLSD's are MUCH MUCH HIGHER and are pretty damn strong. I used to drift my track 240sx only a pretty heavy weekly basis and only went through 2 VLSD's in 3 years time. I wasn't pushing 400HP (More like 280WHP), but it beat the crap out of it and it never failed to amaze me. The setup itself is pretty expensive tho, i think it comes in at around $2700 but you get Backing Plates $550 Moustache bar $250 Lower control Drop mounts with dogbone $300 Dogbone on it’s own $70 Front Diff Mount $150 Axles $480 Struts prepped for coilovers $240 Coilovers for rear strut casings $199 Shocks for rear strut casings $240 Weld on rear camber plates $180 Total : $2,659 And I'm sure you could get their front coilovers as well for a pretty good price as long as your buying the package setup. What do you guys think? You can pickup a good, fairly new Q45 VLSD with a 3.9 rear end for around 150 bucks or so. I'm just looking at all the options available. cygnusx1
Nice but a word of warning. I have seen the weld/metal crack on the original tabs that protrude from the body. I would beef up the tabs that the mount is getting bolted to. Look at the difference in material strength! Those tabs would break off with a vice grip pretty easily. New-to-240z
Yeah, I will talk to them about that. How would one beef these up? Are you talking about just re-welding them at the point it meet the body frame? Or are you talking about actually putting an entirely new piece of metal? Z-Gad
There are some photos in my HybridZ gallery in my sig with the TTT kit installed. I used an Armada diff instead of the Q45 or Z32 diff and had a mounting cradle welded into the car for the front mount from above ... tonycharger72
The stuff Gab sells that you have mentioned above looks to be of good quality, I have only purchased the Ground Control Coilover Kit from Gab, but honestly his customer service can't be beat, I have sent a never ending barrage of annoying questions his way and he is always quick to reply and always helpful, that has got to count for something !!! I was possibly thinking of purchasing his backing plates, but making some mods to it, remove the connecting piece to the strut and then use an RX7 front strut instead of what they sell and weld in a new connecting piece so you end up with a double sheer arrangement connecting TTT's backing plates to the RX7 struts! I say use the RX7 S4/S5 lower strut because it is basically exactly what you would need in this instance to create the double sheer, the top strut in the below pic! At a bare minimum, beef up the factory weld and that should hold for a while. Other than that, you can take it as far as you want. I would cut them off and rebaricate the tabs in a heavier gauge with "tabs" where they contact the body, to spread the load out. This is based on what I have seen happen, first hand. I'm really interested in purchasing this when I get the extra $$ together. My question to you is, how much did it cost to have that front diff mount created and welded into place? I know everyone's different in price, but a general idea is better then nothing.
